Transportation is one of the biggest environmental issues that our world faces. In the United States, transportation emissions make up almost 30% of the total greenhouse gas emissions. Cars, motorcycles, trains, airplanes, helicopters, and many other forms of transportation cause a huge amount of emissions to go into the atmosphere. Now it is not logical to suggest the all forms of gas transportation options be eliminated, but it is logical to lower the use of these types of transportations.
There are many different ways that anyone can help to reduce emissions by transportation. In many large cities, or around universities there are various available options like rentable bicycles, scooters, or public busses. Many places in these areas also have subways that are easily accessible. However, if you are not in a heavily populated area there are still many options for you. Rural areas still normally provide some form of public transportation like a bus system. If this option does not work for you, look for someone to carpool with. Students can carpool to school, and employees can carpool to work. There are many options that are simple solutions that may seem small but can make a big difference.
