Tying together the other impacts of climate change from previous posts, poverty is further exacerbated by the negative effects of climate change. In many parts of the world, people are already struggling as it is to make ends meet, which gets hampered further by the natural disasters that have been occurring more frequently as a result of climate change.
Increased natural disasters such as flooding, hurricanes, and droughts that are coming as temperatures rise across the world continue to put people in constant limbo with regards to where they live, work, and how to handle one misfortune after another. In places where they rely on the patterns of nature to survive, the changing of these patterns has threatened their very livelihood. Whether it is droughts hampering agriculture or communities having to constantly rebuild after a hurricane, the effects of climate change have presented themselves, and have great impact in places that we may not even notice on the surface.
Climate change continues to harm our environment, but it is harming our own people more than anyone seems to realize. For many of us, it might seem like nothing more than a slight inconvenience to deal with, but it has truly become life or death for many others around the world. If this issue continues to persist, then many people will be at risk of losing it all, including their lives. This could also soon become an issue we ourselves are presented with as well. Despite that, we still have a chance to make a difference and create positive change that not only helps ourselves but others around the world.
